Bernicia has developed a reputation as one of the North East’s largest and most successful housing providers; building, renting, selling and managing homes and providing specialist support services to over 60,000 customers.

Our Scope of Services

Rely on Fire Check conducted a thorough and ongoing estate-wide verification process, meticulously assessing existing fire detection and fire alarm systems across a diverse range of property types. This encompassed a spectrum of residential settings, including single occupancy dwellings, supported housing, residential care facilities, sheltered housing, houses of multiple occupation, and residential blocks of flats.

The verification process was executed with precision and professionalism, resulting in the creation of as-fitted drawings and comprehensive compliance reports for each system. These documents not only served as a record of the current state of the systems but also played a crucial role in identifying any defects that required immediate rectification. Additionally, variations for approval by all relevant parties were meticulously documented within each BS 5839 verification certificate.

To ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance, detailed design drawings and specifications were produced for all system upgrades and replacements. This strategic approach allowed our clients to confidently proceed to tender for the installation and commissioning of the systems. Notably, Rely on Fire Check was appointed as third-party verifiers, playing a pivotal role in issuing both BS 5839 and British Approvals of Fire Equipment (BAFE) certifications.

In response to the client's specific needs, Rely on Fire Check provided clear instructions regarding the specified use of our certification. This included guidance on methods of technical reporting, logbooks, and labels, contributing to the development of a standardised suite of compliance documentation. To enhance accessibility and security, electronic documentation was stored on our secure document collaboration portal, while logbooks and hard copy documentation found a home within a lockable document enclosure.

By adopting this comprehensive and standardised approach, Rely on Fire Check not only ensured the utmost safety and compliance in fire detection and alarm systems but also facilitated a seamless and efficient process for our clients, setting a benchmark for excellence in the industry.
