Etihad Stadium North Stand Expansion

Rely on Fire Check were appointed to provide specialist technical review and consultancy services in support of SES Engineering Services for the Etihad Stadium North Stand Expansion project in Manchester, working alongside main contractor Sisk on this major £300million stadium redevelopment.

The initial scope of services focused on the technical review of the RIBA Stage 3 consultant-produced design information for the electrotechnical life safety systems. This included a detailed assessment of the proposed Fire Detection & Fire Alarm, Emergency Voice Communication and associated life safety systems to identify technical risks, coordination challenges and compliance considerations. Rely on Fire Check provided structured technical guidance, annotated design comments and recommendations to support the development of robust, compliant and buildable solutions appropriate for a high-occupancy stadium environment, promoting a “right first time” approach to system design and delivery.

Following completion of the design review, Rely on Fire Check supported SES Engineering Services through the subcontractor procurement process. This included the technical review of contractor quotations and the production of tender analysis to benchmark proposals against the design intent, compliance requirements and project expectations. This ensured best-value procurement decisions were made while maintaining full compliance and performance requirements.

Once the preferred subcontractor was appointed, Rely on Fire Check further undertook detailed technical reviews of the subcontractor design packages. This included identifying design shortfalls, coordination issues and areas of non-compliance, together with providing clear technical guidance to resolve issues at an early stage. This proactive technical assurance supported a right first-time delivery philosophy, reducing the risk of abortive works, re-design and programme delays during installation and commissioning.
