Crown Square Redevelopment – Block 4 (Build to Rent)

Rely on Fire Check were appointed by SES Engineering Services at PCSA stage to provide specialist life safety design and consultancy services for Block 4 of the Crown Square Redevelopment (Gresham Street), comprising a build-to-rent residential apartment block.

The appointment supported SES Engineering Services through the Gateway 2 submission process and focused on early-stage risk mitigation, compliance with the relevant British Standards and the development of coordinated, buildable life safety system solutions suitable for a Higher-Risk Building (HRB).

Rely on Fire Check undertook a detailed review of the consultant-produced indicative design for the Fire Detection & Fire Alarm, Emergency Voice Communication and Evacuation Alert systems. This process included annotated drawings and a structured observations and recommendations report, identifying technical risks and opportunities to achieve compliant and best-value outcomes, while supporting early subcontractor profiling prior to formal appointment.

Alongside the design review, Rely on Fire Check developed the electrotechnical life safety system design for the block, with particular consideration given to system coordination, resident safety, and alignment with the developing fire strategy and Gateway 2 requirements.
