Auditing of Fire Detection & Fire Alarm Systems
Fire detection & fire alarm systems are installed to provide an audible and visual alarm in the event of a fire within a building that has been detected by an automatic fire detector such as a smoke or heat detector or by the operation of a manual call point following a person identifying a fire and raising the alarm manually.
The type of fire detection & fire alarm system along with the level of protection required is prescribed by a qualified fire engineer on a new build or a fire risk assessor within an occupied building. The types and categories of fire detection systems available is exhaustive and complex and detailed understanding of specific requirements prescribed within British Standards is needed to verify that the system you have meets the specific requirements that have been prescribed for your premises.
With building structure, occupancy and use changing frequently it is of vital importance that your fire risk assessment is aligned to the current structure, occupancy and use of your building. Changes often result in changes to prescribed requirements for your fire detection and fire alarm system and it is therefore important to have your system verified for compliance as changes occur so that system alterations can be identified and managed.
If you are in any doubt that the system installed within your building meets the prescribed requirements of your fire risk assessment, then you can Rely on Fire Check to fully verify the system and confirm compliance with British Standards and issue you a certificate for your records to evidence compliance. In instances where changes are needed to achieve compliance our reporting format fully itemises what is needed so that you can issue it to your fire alarm system maintenance contractor for action.
All systems are verified and fully certificated in strict accordance with British Standards with the following standards and codes of practice being technically assessed and within the scope of our certification:
- BS 5839-1 – Fire detection & fire alarm systems for non-domestic buildings
